iPhone on Toast...

'sup y'all! Bit of American I picked up to start the blog for you there…

Hope you're all liking the snazzy new site… Despite my awful miserable-ness in that main photo! Who thought that was a good idea?! I've got that moody sexy thing going on though right?

I've had a weird week… been without my laptop which is a lifestyle change that just feels uncomfortable. I all of a sudden had loads of time on my hands I don't normally have! Couldn't record anything at home (so I didn't see Clark for a few days)… Couldn't get on Facey-B or Twatter and all that lark either. Let's be honest, it just isn't fun to do that on a phone is it?! Speaking of which, I dropped and smashed iPhone number 8 today! What a wally!

iPhones have really got that "Toast always lands butter side down" thing going on haven't they?!

Just had an idea for a toast based app… I'll get back to you on that!

Blog 1 on the new website… DONE!

Good innit?!

Here's a pic I liked (despite me doing my stupid Stevie Wonder head) courtesy of Rachel Stanikk from our recent show at The Brook in Southampton! AMAZING venue!

So we're now back in the UK, and since we've been back amongst the street gigs and meetings we managed to make a very enjoyable visit to the students of ACM. ACM is a music college in Guildford and we went up there to play a few songs and do some little Q&A sessions with the students which ended up feeling a bit like group therapy, as Clark and I had a chance to air our dirty laundry in public. Many of the questions ended up down the route of how we get on with each other on tour... and frankly, as boring as it seems, we actually get on very well most of the time. But the morning of our ACM visit me and Clark did end up having a very brief "tiff" I believe it would be called. Here's how it went down: It was a crisp, sunny morning outside Tesco Express. And as the rest of the town of Guildford were rising from their slumber we were grabbing a quick breakfast snack...

I was eating, and Clark came up behind me and launched his famous "really loud dog bark" in my ear... I reacted, frankly quite badly and launched my croissant at his head. A few expletives were exchanged and we carried on about our day!

We're like the Sex Pistols or something hey?!

Anyway, in other more normal news we've had a chance to start doing demo's of the massive amount of new songs we seem to have accumulated since we recorded Fake Control last year. It's always so exciting working on new songs... and we've got some real gems coming together for you guys! Here's Rob working on some guitar sounds...

Until next time Rubies!

Lost in Liverpool...

As I'm typing this blog, Craigy has told us we're lost on our way into Liverpool... ah... we're back on track now. Ohhh Look Anfield! A quick update on the tour... We've been to Scotland which is a first for Rubylux and myself personally, and I bloody love the place! We had a warm welcome to Glasgow and met some good friends and had an absolutely smashing night out! The next night was Paddy's day so as expected the streets were full of carnage in Edinburgh, a successful gig and plenty of free drinks! Thank you Edinburgh!

After a quick visit to the Edinburgh castle we headed back to England with a quick stop off for Craig to entertain himself jumping back and forth over the borders of England and Scotland, oh and a quick visit to a beach (Video to follow soon!)

On our way to the venue in Liverpool so must dash now as we have to do all important stuff like... argue over the set list, attempt to warm up some vocal chords and of course rush to have a quick wee before playing!

Hello to everyone new we've picked up along the way! How's you, you well? And to all the hardcore Ruby-Fans! We miss ya and love you!

Blonde, blot, blow, Kazoo, block, BLOG!

Sorry about the typo's, I started writing this on my iPhone! Anyone else find them difficult to type on, and the auto correct REALLY annoying? Well, it's been a little while since I blogged so I thought I'd better get in and do one before the boys tell me off!

So here it is, a blog with no particular theme, but it's a blog nonetheless and will add a "blog point" to my tally.

Let me tell you some things:

1. OUR TOUR BEGINS ON TUESDAY! We've been rehearsing and preparing this week to make sure we're in tip top form for what is really our first "real" tour of the UK! Please check out the dates on the gigs page and come see us!

2. We've been doing a bit of recording this week as well... just a bit, just in our bedrooms, on the sly, demo's you might call them. We've got LOADS of new songs stockpiled, Rob's prolific songwriting just doesn't stop, and we are all itching to make another record, (Clark is also itching for other unrelated reasons) but it seems FAKE CONTROL has got a lot more legs in her yet and is still taking us all over the world which is amazing, but don't worry, there's plenty more where that came from! We've also been doing a bit of work on a cover we've been asked to do, which is starting to sound damn fine, we'll keep you posted!

3. I walked to Mike's house from my house this week and met a dog called Rosie. We got on really well and are gonna try and catch up again! It's early days for us, and we need to get to know each other properly, but it's promising. Fingers crossed!

4. A seagull got stuck on my balcony on Tuesday... it had a hurt wing. It turns out I'm birdaphobic (There's a proper word for that right?), so before anyone else feels they need to tell you... My Mum had to come round and pick it up for me! I just couldn't OK?! I don't trust them!

5. Thanks for reading my blog, please call in again, it's been a pleasure!

2010! - A VERY long blog!

Well well well, Its new years eve, so probably best to get the big end of year blog post out of the way before we get too drunk! Warning - This is a long one! Its been an absolutely amazing year for us, and a huge thank you to you all for following us every step of the way!

January and Feb were spent in France, putting the finishing touches to our debut album with our producer and now good friend James Sanger. A massive thanks to James, Ash Howes and Dick Beetham for helping to create a debut to be proud of.

As soon as we arrived back in the UK it was time to pack our bags and leave for Vietnam in March! The first time in Asia for us all, and it was an experience we will never ever forget. It gave us a great opportunity to rock out some of the new tracks

from the album, every night to crowds from all across the world! Check out some of our video diaries to get a glimpse of our time there!

While we we're in 'Nam, we we're still working on the album during the day, and gigging at night! We we're listening to new mixes, making decisions on artwork, and even putting down some last minute backing vocals in a boiling hot bedroom in Ho Chi Minh City! We also achieved another big milestone whilst out there. We signed ourfirst big deal with our amazingly supportive Investors, Shamrock and Eaglefort LLP. Their help enabled us to start our very own record label 'Luxury-B Records'. We released the album through the label on the 6th June, and stil have a great team of people behind us working hard to help promote it!

The day it came out on iTunes, I remember being super excited watching it climb up the alternative chart throughout the day. The album reached number 13, which was quite a surprise to us! So thank you to everyone who downloaded it, if you haven't... GO THERE NOW!!

Right, where was I! Ahh yeah. We got back from Vietnam in May, and started planning our big homecoming/album launch/live DVD shoot gig! The location was set, the Old Market in Hove, and wow, you guys did not dissapoint! We sold out our biggest ever show within about 2 weeks, and had an absolute blast!  (the dvd is out now, if you want to re-live the magic! lol). We we're all totally blown away by the response, and I think it was this point we all realised maybe we we're on to a good thing!

June saw us film our first music video for our single 'The Boy Could Fly', and set out on a mini tour, playing showcases and a few festivals all over the UK. From June till August was also the time we embarked on our Street Gig tour of the UK. We played nearly every Major town/city, and managed to visit countless regional radio stations for interviews and acoustic sessions! It was also at this time that the Guardian featured our story in their paper!

September was a huge month for us. We signed our Worldwide publishing deal with BMG, and made some new friends, and welcomed some new members to the Ruby-Family worldwide! We didn't really have time to let this sink in, as the day after signing we we're boarding a plane out to Singapore and Australia! 2 great shows in Singapore, then off to Australia, where we spent 3 weeks! Another dream to tick off the list! Thanks to Sat "The Facilitater" Bisla, Monte, Joe and Sara at A&R Worldwide for their amazing support beyond the call of duty!

Back in the UK in the middle of October gave us a few weeks to chill out and take things in, whilst getting back into the rehearsal studio ahead of the Brighton Music Awards, where we hung out with some genuine actual music legends, and walked away with the 'Band of the Year' award, presented to us by none other than Roger Daltrey. We are truly honored to be thought of as one of Brighton's best bands! Once again, we had no time to let the surreal night set in, as we we're back on another plane heading out to Singapore to do some promo and play a great festival to a packed out crowd.

And this brings us to the end of the year, December. A great end of year show back in our hometown, Brighton. A headline show at the Concorde2 really tested your dedication, and you all made us proud, battling through the snow to come and watch us rock our xmas socks off! And what a way to end the year it was, probably the best gig I've ever done!

Next year is already promising some even more exciting stuff, more exotic and far away countries to visit, a UK tour and some more promising deals on the horizon! If you've read this far into this mammouth blog post, then well done! All thats left to do is give a massive thank you to everyone who has helped make 2010 a fan-fucking-tastic year, and one big long (but hard working) party!!

Hart Media, Lucid, Turner Spears, Bad Moon Publicity - our promotion teams. Absolute - our distributors (Thanks to the whole team for being so supportive during a really sad time, Rob Dwyer RIP). Tim and Sam for the videos. Beth Thomas, Sam Bond Photos, Kate Bamber. Visual Sound, Maestro Guitars, Gibson, VIP Health and Fiji Water - for their continued support.

And an extra special thanks to Bob James for being a fantastic manager, and thinking all things Ruby 24-7! Yvinne Goh at BJMS for all your dedication, and Craig Hunt (our tour manager for keeping the Rubybus on the straight and narrow!

And last but by no means least, All the VIP members, and the fans for making us feel like true rock stars, and helping us litterally live our dreams! Have a great new year, and we'll check back in with a shorter blog after the hangover wears off!

The Boys, xxxx

Hey Guys, Its fallen on me to write todays xmas b-log-roll, haha, get it?

Clark and Ad have pretty much "hogged the blog" for the last 2 weeks, so its my time to share something on the blogvent calendar. I feel like I should write a big old re-cap of the year, but i'm going to pace myself and save that for the new year!

I'm currently back at my family home in Wales (yeah, thats right, Clark isn't the only Welsh one in the band, contrary to popular belief). Its seriouly snowy up here, and haven't left the house for 2 days... Eaten my way though a massive box of Marks and Spencer chocolate truffles though, so every cloud... (They are amazing).

RIGHT, my gift for today is a few pictures from our Concorde show last week. They we're taken by @sambphoto. Enjoy!

AAAND, If you're still struggling to think of xmas pressies, buy our album! (Ok, so they won't get delivered til after xmas, BUT it will be worth the wait!) They got delivered last week, after the gig, and they look amazing! I haven't even got a copy myself yet, and they are flying out of the merch store like hot cakes, so get one NOW!!!!!)

Merry Xmas! x Mike

P.s. As my quest to get more twitter followers than Ad continues, FOLLOW ME!! @mikerubylux!

OK, we've missed a couple of days...

You know it, and we know it... But my god, we are gonna smash through the pain barrier, and do this blogvent calendar until Christmas Day! Last night was our Super Massive Christmas Show at the Concorde 2 in our home town of Brighton... and it was SUPER! Thanks to everyone for braving it out in the snow... We still actually can't believe how many of you were there! To everyone that got stuck in the snow traffic etc and didn't make it, we're really sorry you couldn't make it down, but we'll do some UK shows next year where we will give a NO SNOW - GUARANTEE... Or your money back! These gigs will probably be around July time! ;-)

In other BIG news...

They managed to arrive late last night and everyone that came to the after party managed to get one... but everyone that was at the gig...didn't!

Now, we'd love to have guaranteed we would get them to you by Christmas, but that just isn't going to happen in the post, BUT...

If you would like a "Fake Control" CD... and if you are from the Brighton area and order online before the 21st of December, we will have our very own Ruby-Santa (Craigy-lux) going out in his Sleigh (Ford Transit), possibly with his own Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer (Bob our manager) and maybe even a selection of the other Reindeer (Rubylux)... and we will get the CD's to you! So order yours in the Merch store... NOW!

If you are anywhere else, sorry we can't guarantee it will be with you by Christmas, but they will make lovely post Christmas presents! ;-)

Advent - Day 8!

Ahhhhhh 12 minutes before it's too late and it goes into day 9... Boy have I got a treat for you lot today!

We've been hard at work today doing some recording for a secret cover... and we were putting down some vocals at Mike's house... It was a pretty rock and roll kind of day. We had a Terry's Chocolate Orange between us, some Twinings English Breakfast Tea (probably my favourite tea, if you're asking?!), and Mike topped off his turn to do the catering with some awesome Nachos and Sweet Chilli dip!

See I told you it was a rock 'n' roll kind of day... I'm pretty sure The Beatles would share a Chocolate Orange during a hard days recording!

Although I don't think they would be doing a vocal take with THAT in their arms!!!!!!

I believe Clark's exact words were: " I didn't know Paris F*?%!^* Hilton was in the band!!!"

The only difference between Mike and Paris "Talent Vacuum" Hilton is a talent...

and before Mike takes that as a compliment...

His talent is his knack for knocking up a bowl of Nachos!

Until tommorow my friends!

PS I suppose to be fair to Paris, she can knock out a half decent video...

Day 7 - Band Meeting... Prizent

Sooooo, We're all here in Ad's flat drinking the Queens tea and wondering whether getting a Subway before rehearsal (which we'll probably be late for) is a good idea. We're planning some lovely treats for our gig at the Concorde2 on the 17th of Dec!!

Short and sweet blog but let us pull your ear towards a friend we met in Perth!

p.s Ad has a Toy Story advent Calendar!

Rubylux mailout coming soon with more info on our last 2 gigs of this year etc!

A new addition to the family...

We'd like to welcome our "new" (28 years old) Customised Korg Mono/Poly to the Rubylux family. She was born at 4:30pm this afternoon...  Tuesday 24th of November 2010, Weighing about 26 pounds!

Both Clark, Myself and our new instrument are healthy, and in high spirits but just feeling very tired.

We have just decided to name her Mrs Robinson, due to her being older than us...but still very, VERY sexy!

Please, no visitors just yet as Clark and I are very tired as it has been a 2 week labour, but listen out for Mrs Robinson on our next album!

Here's a picture of her finally at home with her family!

A quick update... Full news to follow!

Hey guys… It's the morning(UK time) and Evening(SIngapore time) after our AWESOME gig at the Green Festival here in Singapore, and we've just got out of bed ready to live our nocturnal lives on the other side of the world. I think we're going to evolve big ol' eyes like a possum if we keep this up too long!! Today is our "Tourist Day" in SIngapore and we are planning on heading out and about to see the sights… When we finally get ready! We'll report back on what we get up to later!

Blog O' Clock...

So, we're now back in the UK after another stint in Asia, and our very first time in the beautiful land of Australia. It's 9pm now, and once again I'm ready for bed… The jet lag has hit us all pretty hard this time. Last night I crashed before the second half of the football had even started!!! It really is soooo worth it though…we've got a real taste for Asia now, and we're really excited as it now looks like we are heading back in a few weeks for more shows and festivals! Woop!

We also had a great time in Australia, met some amazing people and had some awesome gigs in Perth and Melbourne…Thanks to everyone that came from far and wide to come see us…you know who you are. Australia is one craaaazy big country, where it can take 4-5 hours flying to go from one city to another… so that people made such an effort to see us means so much! Check out this little guy… Hamish! Mike is teaching him the drum part to The Boy Could Fly. Just another few songs to go and our new drummer should be ready! DON'T TELL MIKE!

We are obviously enjoying spending some of our time abroad but it's always good to be on home soil and doing shows here aswel… It doesn't take long for us to all start missing the UK when we are away so we are really looking forward to our 2nd big gig of the year in our home town of Brighton! The Concorde 2 is such a great venue to play and it's so cool that we can now headline our own gigs there… Tickets are available HERE!

In other news, my Ellie Goulding obsession doesn't seem to be fading, and I'm on my second time round on her album tonight…how long do these phases take to pass?

Oh everybody's starry eyed!

Nighty night!

PS... Here we are in Oz, all dealing with the jet lag in our own way:

Rob: Yoga positions Lag!

Clark: Rockstar cliche Lag!

Ad: Bored 'cos everyone else is asleep, so take a picture of yourself Lag!

Mike: Blowing off is easier like this Lag!

Back in Brighton! - Here's some Waffle

After a long stretch back in my motherland (Wales, Cymru, Pays Des Galles, God's Country, Land of the Jumping cars, Where they mine Pot Noodles) I'm back in Brighton!!! Equipped with my moon boot and dual crutch weapons I'm back in the Rubylux machine and are on the roll again! AUSTRALIA NEXT WEEK!!! WWWWWOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!! Slightly Excited.

Stopping off in Singapore on the way too, good to squeeze another country in when you go somewhere new innit!

Anyway, just a hey! to say Hello and that I'm back and the slight limp I'll have for the next few weeks might slow me down, but slow and steady makes perfect scrambled eggs right?

We've just come off Ustream and had a lovely time chatting to everyone who tuned in, we promise to do more to keep you lot up to date with 'Live' video chats! here's our Channel for future use... www.ustream.tv/channel/rubylux

Here's a video from before I broke my heel and was in top form!

Catch you later aligator! Or as the say in Australia... Catch you later!
